Newsweek reported that an anti-mask "Karen" by the name of Janene Hoskovec in Lincoln, Nebraska not only refused to abide by local mask mandate (even for vaxxed folks), she deliberately provoked a mother/daughter pair by calling them "scared" and "sheep", then when she was requested to mask up, deliberate "coughed" on them. The whole thing was caught on camera from multiple angles, which did not deter the Karen. She kept following the mother/daughter group around the store and shouted more taunts.
This Karen is Type II: Vigilante Karen, out of the four types I've identified.
Vigilante Karens, for their own reasons, chose to take on someone else's problem, even though there is either no problem or it is none of their business. Vigilante Karens believe they are in the right, despite her horrible behavior, and either cannot see their behavior as horrible, or believe the ends justify the means.
This one somehow believes that her anti-mask views equate to a moral superiority that gave her "cause" to harass people who chose to obey the law and mask up. It's not okay that only she disobey the law. She felt the need to yell at other people who follow the law because everyone else is wrong and she's right.
This Karen was quickly identified by name via her own LinkedIn page, and her employer, SAP, apparently terminated her position on Wednesday (9/8/2021).
Don't be a Karen.
